A NEW GARDEN IN PIAZZA LUIGI DI SAVOIA

The inauguration of the “Garden of Girls and Boys from Around the World” in Milan, in Piazza Luigi di Savoia, marks a significant step towards urban redevelopment and social commitment. Funded by FinLeonardo and with the support of UNICEF, this green space has been designed as a sanctuary for the youngest, a place exclusively dedicated to the youngest citizens where they can play and learn safely, away from urban problems often associated with areas adjacent to railway stations.

Mayor Beppe Sala emphasized the importance of transforming areas subject to degradation into livable areas that promote sociality and leisure, in line with children's right to play, especially highlighted during the lockdown. The opening event (May 2021) was also an opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Italian ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Children and Adolescents.

This project not only improves urban space in Milan but also lays the foundations for a community that is more inclusive and aware of children's rights, demonstrating how well-thought-out public spaces can have a positive impact on the lives of the inhabitants of Milan and on the urban environment.
